Each of these pieces were written to commemorate the impending birth of my 8 grandchildren.
The pieces are presented in the order of their birth and, like the children themselves, each has a distinct character and no more so than the 8th.. This is because Lucy, was the first female to be born on my side of the family since 1861, and in her piece I have discarded my usual contrapuntally inspired writing for a more chordal iteration.
